Here are a number of photos taken at various locations along the many branches of the emigrant trail to California. These photos are grouped by the Trail they were taken along. So pick a Trail and look at some scenes that show what that trail was like.
- The California Trail.
- This segment of the emigrant trail starts at the Raft River in southern Idaho and ends at the Humboldt Bar in Nevada.
- The Applegate Trail.
- This trail segment starts at Lassen Meadows in Nevada and ends in southern Oregon.
- The Carson Trail.
- This trail segment starts at the Humboldt Bar in Nevada, crosses the Sierra Nevada at Carson Pass (Hwy 88), and ends in Pleasant Valley near Placerville, California.
- The Lassen Trail.
- This trail segment starts at where the Applegate Trail turns west and then north towards Oregon at Davis Creek, California. It ends at Vina, north of Chico, California.
- The Nobles Trail.
- This trail segment branches off the Applegate Trail north of Rabbit Hole Springs, heads west across the Black Rock Playa and Smoke Creek Desert, swings through Susanville, California, and around the north side of Mount Lassen to end in Shasta City, California (west of Redding).
- Other Trail Scenes.
- A group of trail scenes taken along segments not significant enough to warrant their own separate treatment or we do not have enough photos to devote a web page to them. As we obtain additional photos of these underrepresented trails, we will add a page or two devoted to them.
