Don Buck gets ready to place one of the National Historic Trail Emblems on Marker C-66 while Mary Mueller supervises.
Marker C-66 is one of the few Trails West Markers that has two cross bars on the top. One cross bar has the usual plate inscribed with a quote from an emigrant diary. The other cross bar gives honor to the Nevada Emigrant Trails Marking Committee, the original group who started marking the emigrant trail through Nevada. This marker is located on the California Trail just short of where the Applegate Trail branches off. The location is near Callahan Bridge over the Humboldt River just north of the present-day Rye Patch Reservoir. |
